Your Foundation Matters

Your Foundation Matters
Back in 2000, Capital One began an advertising campaign in which they asked, “What’s in your wallet?” For the last 24 years, they have built their entire advertising campaign on that slogan and it has become their advertising foundation.

A foundation supports a building and resists movement to provide stability and durability. Paul pictured a believer’s life like that of a building. Every building must have a sure foundation.

In 1 Corinthians 3, Paul told the church in Corinth that they were God’s building and that their foundation was Jesus Christ. In Verse 11, he said, “For no man can lay a foundation other than the one which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.”

Paul is talking about building your life based on the life and teachings of Jesus. His life and teachings are revealed to us in the Bible. From Genesis to Revelation, God’s Word teaches us everything from the reason and need for a Savior to the revelation of that Savior in the life, death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus all the way to His imminent return.

There are those who try to build on other foundations in the name of Jesus, but it is not the Jesus of the Bible. Liberals build on the human Jesus and His teachings of love and justice but leave out His deity and teachings on sin. There are other religions that are pseudo-Christian that relegate Jesus to either “a god” but not THE God or as an archangel thus downgrading not just the person and deity of Jesus but His teachings as well.

We must be careful that the foundation of our lives is Jesus Christ as revealed in Scripture. If we try to build upon morality, good works or religions that teach about things other than the Jesus of Scripture, we will miss God and His plan for salvation. Foundations matter! Sooo… what’s in your foundation?

These are your Words for Wednesday.

We will be having an outreach to the Ballentine subdivision on Sunday, June 2 from 4:00-6:00 pm as we have a Bicycle Rodeo! I need volunteers to oversee different stations and be on hand to help the kids and parents. If you or your Small Group can help, please let me know as soon as possible. Have a great rest of your week!

In Christ,
Kevin
